Aspects of Our Ministry

You can be a part of our ministry in many different ways - musicians and non-musicians included!!

Below is a list of some of the roles members of our ministry play on a weekly basis... Do you think you're up for one or more of these activities? Contact us!

Parish Choir

As our main ensemble, members of the Parish Choir sing at the 11:30 AM Mass weekly on Sunday mornings. The choir sings both traditional and contemporary music; most masses consist of a wise range of music styles.

The choir rehearses along with the rest of the music ministry at one weeknight evening rehearsal. The choir also sings at various music ministry events, such as "Lessons and Carols," and "Supper and Song." No experience necessary! A choir for all ages! Anyone with a joyful heart and a desire to praise the Lord is welcome to join us!

Cantors

Extracted from our parish choir, cantors proclaim the Liturgy of the Word through the Responsorial Psalm at Mass. Cantors, in addition to being comfortable with singing solo parts, must be willing to incorporate their Psalm in their daily devotion every day the week prior to cantoring. He or she must also participate in an extra one-on-one rehearsal with a Team Leader the week prior to cantoring, as well.

Instrumentalists

Many of our music ministry members are gifted with musical talent on various instruments. Regardless of what instrument you play, we are happy to incorporate it in weekly worship! Currently we have guitars, bass, pianists, flutes, clarinets, violins, auxiliary percussionists, etc. playing on a weekly basis! Instrumentalists attend one weeknight evening rehearsal along with the rest of the music ministry.

"Behind the Scenes"

Techs: These EXTREMELY important members of the music ministry help to run the sound board (and mics) during masses and special events, as well as create and operate lyric slides for our new projection system. We are in desperate need for people willing to join us in this aspect of our ministry. Experience is not required, however, anyone with experience in operating sound systems and willing to volunteer their time with us is greatly encouraged to contact us, as well!

Secretaries: These wonderful people help us to make music week after week by copying music for us, as well as filing and organizing our music. These volunteers meet regularly, making sure instrumentalists' binders are ready for the weekend, as well as lyrics sheets for choir and (when needed) congregation. These volunteers also help by putting the song numbers onto the sanctuary hymn boards on a weekly basis. This is a perfect position for anyone seeking to aid our ministry "behind-the-scenes." Current members of the music ministry in other aspects are also encouraged to help out!

We have many other ways to participate in the music ministry of our parish, as well, from our Ukulele Ensemble, to Stations of the Cross musicians, to helping prepare our after church coffee & fellowship time! E-mail us at srp.musicministry@gmail.com for additional information.
